🧬 When the body says “no”: the signals that should not be ignored
The belly button piercing is one of the most beloved… but also one of the most delicate. Understanding if something is going wrong can make the difference between a perfect healing and months of problems.
Let's look at the most common signs that indicate a badly done or suffering belly button piercing - without going into the details of the treatment (spoiler: I'll explain that to you in my complete course!).
🔴 Infection in progress? Here are the classic symptoms
Slight redness for the first few days is normal. But if you notice these symptoms, your piercing may be infected :
Redness that spreads and does not improve
Swelling that is hard and warm to the touch
Throbbing pain
Yellow-green discharge and bad odor
Fever (in more severe cases)
👀 It's not just “a normal scab,” guys.
❌ Is the jewel migrating? Watch out for rejection
Belly button piercing rejection can occur even months after application. If the body “does not accept it”, the jewelry slowly begins to come out on its own.
Typical signs:
The skin above the jewelry becomes thinner
You see more of the jewel than before (the bar looks longer)
The hole moves from its original position
The skin between the two holes is thin, shiny or red
🧠 If your piercing feels like it’s “walking”… you’re not going crazy.
☹️ Keloids, granulomas and the like
Not everything that is a “bump” is bad, but some are:
Keloids : Exaggerated, hard, raised scars that enlarge over time
Granulomas : Red, soft balls, often caused by irritation or infection
Hyperkeratosis : Thick crusts or excess skin
⚠️ Many people confuse these things or… ignore them completely until it's too late.
💬 “But is it normal?” – Typical phrases (and warning bells)
“It hurts a little but only when I touch it…”“It only bleeds if I sleep on it.”“There’s a weird blister but maybe that’s normal…”“I removed the scab and now it’s still bleeding.”
If you too have asked yourself these questions, it's time to REALLY understand what's happening. ( Spoiler : in my course you will find all the answers with real examples, photos and step-by-step explanations).
